1月12日、多くの新成人が晴れの日を迎えました。その「新成人」のなかに、レトロゲームの復刻へとむけた活動に情熱を燃やすひとりの若者の姿がありました。 そうXで力強く語るのは成人式を迎えたばかりの 小山莉寛（こやまりひと）氏 です。氏はアーケードSTG作品を中心とした、既に存在していないゲーム会社の現権利元の探索にその情熱を注いでいます。

花札を題材にしたゲームはずっと出したかったんですけど「対戦相手に勝利しながら進んでいく」というシンプルな内容をどう面白くしていこうか、という取り組みに20年くらい答えを出せずにいました。2024年に『Balatro』が発売されて、それが本当に面白かったので、「これは元々趣味もかねて長年作っていた花札ゲームに応用できる」と思ったのが『花札の虎』の大きな転機になりました。
